I was really disgusted when i first opened the box and tried to power the iPod to find out that it will not work if i don’t connect it to a pc with iTunes. This is ridiculous! Period!
Compound to that the fact that you cannot open a “free” iTunes account unless you give a credit card regardless if you plan or not to purchase anything.
compound to the above the fact that you cannot upload download music between a pc and the iPod unless it is in the one and only computer that it has “bonded” with. I actually did not believe it could be the case until i reached an apple customer service person who told me that i could not take my music i loaded in the iPod at home and copy it on my office computer.
These facts all felt extremely unfriendly and targeted to exploit the owner of the device.
Well thank God for Hackers and their ingenuity to come and solve the problem for free.
It is a pity that such a marvel of engineering and design is partnered with such an exploitation of money making business.

I read the reviews on this Ipod, both the best and the worst and trusted my gut instinct so I bought it. This Ipod is amazing. It was delivered on a cold wet day so I was afraid at first that it might have water damage, no such thing. This ipod gets my 5 stars and a thumbs up, worth every penny.
I was very pleased to get this and save $42.00. No big difference between 2nd and 3rd generation. Glad to have the extra few $$ in my pocket.
i have owned one for nearly a year i honestly cannot recommend this product. the ipod touch has had to be reset at least ten times just to get it to work. customer service said they cannot replace because this is normal for an ipod touch and said buy the software update i will not give another penny to apple inc ever again i wish i had bought the zune hd instead
Before you read any further, understand that I’ve had my iPod touch for 15 months.
My blackberry and the iPod touch are possibly two devices I can’t live without but overall I feel this one does almost everything my Blackberry does but only faster and easier. Would I ever get the iPhone? No.
My favourite features on the iPod touch are – bluetooth, speed of installing, restarting, battery life, display, browsing capability, email setup, build quality…
Itunes no longer allows me to add songs to this mp3 player and wants a reset really bad which is so annoying. I wish there was a way of backing up apps on the ipod like we have for the blackberry.
I have noticed that some of the applications feel much better on this iPod than on the iPhone. On the iPhone, I have noticed a visual blur with a lag of sort, this I don’t notice on this flawless device. The battery life is surprisingly good and I’m glad I can attach it into a usb port to charge though I haven’t done it since a year. I say so because when the wifi is on, the battery life still remains awesome.
I did buy the $10 upgrade to the newest software. I have never called Apple for anything but if I could, I would like to ask them to advise me on how to save all the apps I have purchased for over $150.
A podcast is a sound file (usually significantly longer than an mp3) and these or many of these can be downloaded from Apple iTunes for absolutely free. I’ve heard some great music using the podcasts but I wish I had more time in my life to do the same. If you’re in the USA and you don’t have an iPod touch, then I don’t know what you’re thinking because the capabilities are almost too good to be true.
The music quality and maximum volume is so-so. The bundled earphones I have long lost and they weren’t too bad, just very average. I dislike the lock option and having to use my finger from right to left. The speaker volume is low but worthy none the less because it allows you to converse while not disturbing or being too loud at all. It’s a bit like music playing in the distance and should be best left for preview.
While 32gb might not seem like a lot, it is sufficient enough. If itunes for windows was anywhere near as good as this iPod, I would’ve been slightly happier but I”m just being greedy now but you can’t blame me for it is annoying how difficult and impossible it has become to upload mp3s to this device cause it’s so corrupted and wants so badly to be reset.
I do not wish to reset and if you have a better back up plan for me, do let me know. I charge my ipod once in 5 days. I use it to check four email accounts, all mine, all from different years of my life.
I use a SPECK case for it and it only makes my experience more worthwhile.
This is also a very good expensive but memorable gift.
I love wifi and browsing. thats the main reason to buy this product. We love this and use regularly.
I bought this iPod Touch for my wife knowing that she had mentioned wanting to bring her music with her. Shortly after she first got it started, I introduced her to the AppStore and she never looked back.
She doesn’t use it for music, she uses it for the little apps, mostly games, organizers and so forth. The amount of free applications is daunting and, though you can find thousands of them, you will likely only see the “top 50″ of type, popularity and so forth. Digging deeper can bring to light some gems, but you rarely get past the “50″ mark without having to go online to do your own research.
The cryptic way that the iPod works with iTunes and you music files has _always_ kept me from getting an iPod… I’ve personally vowed never to get one for myself because of the way it is handled. We’ve had some synchronizing accidents, erasing all downloaded applications, because of the way that you have to set up iTunes to work with the device. Simply annoying. Although I’ve had Mac owners tell me that iTunes works far better on a Mac, they still have to deal with this cryptic method of setting up the device. I know it is a method of self-preservation, but it is the main stumbling block that keeps me from investing further in any purchased items.
Other than that, it’s an organizer, alarm clock, wireless network finder and browser. It can do anything that the iPhone can do without the $60+data monthly fee. (Well, except make calls like a mobile phone and browse GPRS or 3G…
) She enjoys it and that’s what matters to me.
Though I can do some incredible things with it knowing that the core is Unix, it’s “closed system” requires you to do all of your restricted shopping/buying from the App Store. A money maker for Apple, but keeps the device woefully inside a tight confine of limits for it’s potential. The homebrew scene requires a Mac, no exceptions.
I enjoy it and my wife loves it! But I, personally, find the pain points of being force fed Apple products in a perpetual stream of Apple services via advertising and the App Store, plus the automation of iTunes handling along with the glut of advertising there, to simply not be for me.

It was refurb which I buy often. Product worked fine (didn’t arrive when I expected to) but was a little disappointed in the overall appearence as it had a “used” look to it. I will continue to buy refurb but will be a little more cognizent of where I’m buying it from…….
I love this ipod but i think the battery dies to quick. Other than that it is a great product.
He can’t get enough of this 3rd generation IPod. He takes it EVERYWHERE! Every time he discovers something else he can do with it, he has to call and tell me. He has had so much fun with the touch screen and looking at the screen from different angles. He’s really not that easily entertained, but with this, the entertainment never stops for him.
Thank you Amazon, it was the perfect Christmas gift!
Does what it is supposed to do. Was a bit skeptical after reading some reviews, but went for it anyways. I am glad I did. Great for minimizing cable clutter.
Everyone buying one of these should know that Apple issued a recall on these adapters in Sept ‘08 because the prongs can potentially snap off in your wall outlet, causing the risk of electric shock (if you have someone not smart enough to know they shouldn’t touch any exposed metal sticking out of a wall outlet before shutting off the circuit breaker).
It may depend on the Amazon “merchant” that you buy this item from, but the one I bought from called “Cellular Freeks” sent me the recalled adapter, not the new one which has a green dot on it to indicate it’s the newest model from Apple. The product pictured here has the green dot on it. The one sent to me does not. It also does not have the tapered prongs like the one in the picture (the other noticeable difference between the recalled vs new model).
It seems to work well with my iPod Touch, but I’m still only giving one star because it’s the RECALLED ADAPTER!! These should have been removed from their shelves over a year ago!
I’m writing this review minutes after I received the item in the mail. I think I will sum up the previous reviews, as well as add some of my personal observations.
1. This product is probably fake. As mentioned in a different review, designed is spelled incorrectly (spelled ‘designd’) and the text is hard to read. However, it is small and portable.
2. It seems that buying this product is a gamble. Some chargers work, and others come in terrible condition. My charger came looking like new, in bubble wrap and a sealed plastic bag. Some other people came with the prongs broken, one person had theirs arrive dirty and scratched up. Consider it a 50/50 chance of getting a nicer one.
3. Once you receive the charger, whether it works or not is a different story. Again, this is a gamble (which I took because the charger cost about $[...] in total). The the worst things the charger can do are (1) not charge your device, (2) temporarily mess up your device or, as one review mentioned, (3) crash your device or computer. Some people have noted that the adapter works perfectly, some have noted that it is a scam. As of right now, the adapter is charging my iPod touch 3G 32gb. My only problem is that when i plug my ipod into it, the touch screen acts strangely (e.g. tapping and holding on the screen behaves as though i were tapping all over the screen or dragging my finger wildly, which I noticed when I was adjusting brightness and when I was going through my music library). As soon as i take my ipod out of the adapter, everything is perfectly normal. Hopefully, nothing permanent will result.
4. The green dot in the picture is not a light, it is just a green dot that isn’t even visible when you plug the adapter in.
5. This does not come with a cable, just the block-like adapter.
Overall I give the adapter a 3 out of 5. It charges my iPod (but I have no idea for how long, as some have said that it breaks after days, weeks, or 2 months). However, I am a little concerned about permanent damage because it causes my device to work strangely when plugged in. 5 stars for ease of use because you just plug stuff in. 2 stars for working, because it works but affects my ipod, 3 stars for being what I ordered because I expected it to be a strange product but the effects on my ipod are unexpected. Buyer beware, but I think it’s worth a shot. Thanks for reading this long review.
Don’t waste your time or money. It does not work with your iphone. I can’t believe people sell these fake products on Amazon.
I wanted to save money. It is not reasonable to pay $30 for the adaptor at the apple store.
But you are not going to save money if you buy this adaptor because it does not work at all.
THEY WILL SHIP YOU FAKE ONES! DO NOT BUY EVER! WORST COMPANY EVER! THEY THE WOULD JUST SCREW YOU OVER AND TAKE YOUR MONEY.. DON’T EVEN RISK PURCHASING, ALTHOUGH THE PRICE IS TEMPTING.
