Bought this for travel purposes to use in rental cars and to charge my phone, ipod and bluetooth headset. It charges any 2 of these simultaneously without fail.
Recently my wife and I upgraded to Palm’s Pre and Pixi. Apparently the charging needs for these smart-phones are very specialized. Turns out the Belkin is the only 3rd-party car charger that will charge my wifes pixi with a USB cable (generic or palm). Obviously the Palm car charger would work but it won’t accept any other USB cable besides the Palm one. This work for us since we use the USB port to charge other devices (see above).
It’s a little on the bulky side, but not really a problem.

Got this for my Motorola cell phone and my Cowon mp3 player; charges both and I can use my devices while they charge.
Pros
-Has a 1amp slot for faster charging
-2 slots for charging 2 devices
-Snug fit in my ‘08 Corolla
Cons
-A little large
-Only one 1amp slot the other is 500mah
-The included cables aren’t the greatest; but I got this for the charger not the cables.
Would I buy this again? Yes. Do I recommend it? Yes. Just wish they could make it a little smaller and maybe reduce the price and cut out the extra cables.

Yup, this product worked perfectly for me and my wife. I bought it before going on a long car trip and now I use it all the time. I like the design of it too, pretty low profile.

I have had this product for more than 6 months now after purchasing a series of USB car chargers with very mixed results. I use it more or less daily. So far, it has been very reliable and is quick to charge.
One of the ports is a rapid charger port, which in fact cuts the charge time for apple devices in half or better. It has been reliable, tho the cable that came with it, while thicker gauge than other cables I have seen, has had a bit of a problem with the connecter at the iPod end – it comes loose very easily (I think the hook is malfunctioning). I have substituted other cables that solve the problem, they work well. The only reason I’m not giving this a 5 star is because of that easily solvable cable connector problem.
Overall, I highly recommend this product.

I really have enjoyed a way to charge my Ipod and my mytouch 3g at the same time. What I don’t like is the nice faint buzz I get when I hit the accelerator on my car. whats funny is it gets higher pitched as I go faster… (honda accord 2000)
other then that it charges my Ipod very fast. My mytouch 3g with its new GPS google maps feature was however a little disappointing. I Went on a long 14 hour trip and although it was charging my phone during the route, it couldn’t keep up with the GPS displaying my route the whole way…it must have died 8 hours into the trip. I fixed that by on the long stretches just putting my phone to sleep (no display) and when I needed to make a turn it would turn on and say where I needed to go. I am fine with that but it would have been nice to have it always displaying my route.
why can’t cars just have built in USB ports for charging??? not to mention a power socket would be nice also….even if a second battery is necessary, it doesn’t need to be as big as the car battery but the car still gives it juice…

I didn’t receive the item pictured. The part I did receive actually makes my 3rd gen. ipod play music garbled after around 30 seconds of playback. The product is junk (whichever product it is that I DID receive), and the company untrustworthy. Don’t waste your time or money with either.

I GUESS THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT. IT SHIPPED ON TIME AND ALL….BUT THEN I FOUND OUT MY CIGARETTE LIGHTER IN THE CAR DOESNT EVEN WORK! BUMMER!

Beware! This device will not charge the new iPhone 3G. I did not test it with the other devices with which compatibility is claimed.

Every time I plug it into my ipod, it freezes the ipod until it is unplugged. save your money!!!

Sure wish I’d known that before I ordered it and paid for expedited shipping (which I didn’t get!). They’ve updated the product description but I’m guessing only after selling a whole bunch of these and making a little bank on the shipping charges.

Just tested this product in my car, and works great! This product is cheap and great quality. And best of all, fast delivery! I will definitely be doing business again!

I recently bought the charger for my car and it works well. My iPod (30GB Video 5G) charges very fast with this charger and does not ’short’, like some have been reported to do. The specific charger that I received is slightly different from the stock picture, with the handle at the cigarette lighter end a bit rounder. The blue indicator light is also much bigger, about the size of a US quarter, but glows only a faint blue which makes it not as distracting. The plastic feels pretty cheap, but for only $0.60 and shipping, it’s worth it to get it since it DOES work.

I first used the wall charger, which worked so I figured great. When I connected the car charger I got a message on my IPod Touch that the function is not supported – pretty disappointing given that this was advertised as IPod Touch compatible.

Having owned this for about 2 months, the charger does not work any more. Prior to this, the car charger was especially poorly made and interfered (LOTS of static noise) with my car stereo.
I strongly recommend stumping up the extra few dollars for a name brand.

These were working fine, but there must have been an iphone update that blocks this phone from charging with 3rd party products. Now when I hook my phone up to these chargers or a portable belkin charger I had, the phone says that it does not recognize the accessory.

I got this for my iPod Touch 2nd Generation. It does the job and the price was right.

Received the home travel charger and car charger and tested the home charger with my daughters IPOD Touch 8gig 2nd gen and the Touch said the accessory was not compatible with this device and would not charge. I don’t know if it’s even worth returning.

I’m coo coo for the “Kensington Mini Car Charger for Mobile Devices with USB Port” although when I ordered it I thought there’d be a little red LED power light on the face and there isn’t. Still, this ranks relatively low on my rather extensive list of life’s major disappointments, and the unit was surprisingly un-junkie in construction, and that makes up for the LED that may or may not have been included in the product description.

Newer phones can require more than the 700 mA that this device can provide. Many now require 1000 mA or even 1200 mA.
Nice unit if your phone required less than 750 mA

The item pictured is not the item being sold. The item description and image is wrong on the web site and on the actual packaging. The actual item in the box has no led indicator light. I called customer service at Kensington and they are aware of the problem but have yet to resolve it. It has been “escalated” to have the description changed. The item is functional, but I purchased an item with a led indicator light because I wanted that feature, so I am disappointed. I paid for the item depicted and described, including the led power indicator feature, and that is not what I received. I did see one other review that said it had no led indicator light but I thought it was an individual mix-up, not a systemic problem. This is a clear failure of the Kensington quality department. They are knowingly manufacturing a different product (probably for a cost savings) and continuing to package and market it as the original design (maybe to use up a supply of existing packaging). They are aware of the problem, but dragging their feet to fix it. They have a 90-day money back guarantee, but require the buyer to send the item back at the buyer’s cost. They are also aware that this policy is unfair to the consumer who has received a misrepresented item, and is required to return it at their own cost, and are recommending escalating that as well. Kensington products are manufactured in China were quality is of much less importance than cost, and customer satisfaction is of no importance. Having lived in China I can say that this is a classic example of the “cha bu da” (meaning “good enough”) attitude. The customer service representative was however extremely polite while not resolving my issue to my satisfaction.
